Body Shop
Opened at 18 with a $1,000 deposit funded by the first car that came through the door. Bodywork, paint, and bulletproofing. Ran it for more than eight years.
Built in Atlanta. Tested with something on the line.

Operator. Founder. I find the waste, fix the broken workflow, and install systems that change the number.
I was 17 and still in high school when my child’s mother called me. I dropped out and went to work. Not to prove anything. I grew up without my father, and I wasn’t going to be that. So I took a job at a temp warehouse. I wrecked my car, and getting it fixed is how I met Dennis. That’s how I got into bodywork. Two men taught me the trade. Dennis taught me how to sell. Storm taught me how to fix cars the right way — he taught me like I was five years old, and he made me a perfectionist about the work. Both of them are gone now. I still use what they gave me every day. In 2007 we opened a body shop. We had a customer the first day, because Dennis already had the relationship. We picked up the car, did the job, and used that money to put down the $1,000 deposit on the building. That’s how the doors opened. Then 2008 came. The lights got cut off more than once. We kept going anyway. I’ve built since then across service businesses, real estate, consumer products, and technology. Five kids and twenty years later, the lesson hasn’t moved: ideas don’t create outcomes. Systems do.
I DIDN’T LEARN BUSINESS FROM THE SIDELINES. I LEARNED IT WITH A KID TO FEED.
Twenty years across service businesses, physical operations, property, consumer products, and technology. Different industries, one responsibility: make the operation work.

Two years into business, the market broke. The lights got cut off more than once. The shop stayed open.
Opened a family restaurant for my mother and bought a tow truck the same year. Held a 100 health score for three years. Learned margins the only way you can learn them — in a kitchen, where there’s nowhere to hide a bad cost structure.
Paid $10,000 for seven days of operating work in a barbershop. It ended in a partnership that’s still running.

Twenty years of operating judgment applied to AI, automation, and better systems.
A barbershop operation in Atlanta.
The owner was running a working business with no P&L — no way to know which chairs earned, what a good week actually was, or where the money went. He wasn’t failing. He was flying blind, which is more common and more expensive than failing.
He paid $10,000 for seven days. We went through the numbers and rebuilt the business side from the ground up.
At the end of the week he didn’t want a consultant. He wanted a partner. We’ve worked together since 2019.
Every principle on this page about the P&L came out of that week. You cannot fix what the owner can’t see.

Trial conversion dipped at the Day-11 charge. The obvious read was churn.
The honest answer is that we were changing too many things at once to name a single cause. The customer mix shifted during the period, and the checkout changed too. A metric that moves while the mix is shifting is a question, not an answer.
A Day-9 pre-charge email now goes out before the Day-11 charge, and the checkout was redesigned so the charge stops being a surprise. Both are live. The results are still being measured.
Change one variable at a time — or admit you changed three. Operators don’t name a cause before the data earns it.
